Today is the final day of Small Business Month, and on this special day, we are proud to announce our new identity. Formerly Amplify Consulting aka Amplify Charlotte, Civility Localized is poised to foster better community engagement here in North Carolina and beyond. After almost 4 years of entrepreneurship (2 of those years full time), I have decided it’s time for a brand renewal. There’s so much happening in our world today and I cannot pretend to have the words to comfort you, or us as a collective. But what I do know is that if we work together towards collective action, we will overcome and create change in our local communities. These tides of change that happen in our neighborhoods lay the foundation for a new sense of civility nationwide. That doesn’t happen overnight. There’s a depth of sadness and anger that I know won’t easily fade. That’s why we have to cherish every second when we are able to do what makes us happy.

Why Civility? I know some are probably uncomfortable with the idea of embracing civility during a time when nothing seems truly “civil”. But that’s what I want us to do most; to challenge this idea of civility and challenge the “proper” ways to interact with the powers that be. Let’s find new ways to engage. Let’s #EngageDifferent and turn civility on its head. That’s the meaning behind this name change. All other aspects of what we’re doing remains the same (and getting better) and I aim to show you that through our work, and with the brand name not uniquely connected to Charlotte, we will be able to expand our reach nationwide and globally.

We would not be here today without all of the people who made it possible back in 2018, the folks who played our local government trivia games and the ones who helped distribute the very first civic toolkits and attended our first workshops. Now, as a nationally recognized consulting firm, I am a leader who gets to talk to folks every day who are so passionate about their communities, and I couldn’t be prouder to introduce you to what we’ve been working on these past few months. With Civility Localized, as a founder, I can continue to do the same kind of work in that same community engagement world, but now I have a team of people who have committed to join me on this journey. Take a look at our new website and the launch video.

Thank you for being there for us as we grow.
